Hanna Hennig is redefining what it means to lead IT in a modern, global organization. As Chief Information Officer of Siemens AG, she has championed resilience as the foundation of her leadership, ensuring that technology is not only a driver of efficiency but also a force for well-being. Under her leadership, Siemens introduced “Focus Fridays,” a meeting-free initiative that allows employees to step back, think strategically, and recharge—an approach designed to foster creativity and reduce burnout. Beyond productivity, Hennig’s work-life integration model has influenced company-wide policies, reinforcing Siemens' commitment to flexible, people-centric work environments.
Born in Germany, Hennig studied economics and Japanese studies at the University of Hannover. Her career spans over 25 years in IT, with key roles at Osram, Telefonica O2, E.ON, Robert Bosch, and Cap Gemini before joining Siemens. At Siemens AG, she is responsible for the company’s digital transformation, ensuring that IT is not just a support function but a business enabler. She previously served on the board of E.ON Business Services GmbH, bringing her expertise in digitalization and operational efficiency to the energy sector.
Hennig believes that embracing change is critical to staying ahead in a fast-paced world of technology. Recognizing the fears surrounding AI and automation, she has prioritized employability—ensuring employees are equipped with the skills to evolve with new technologies rather than be displaced by them. By fostering a culture of learning and collaboration, she has not only strengthened Siemens’ IT strategy but also positioned the company as a leader in digital innovation.
