Airwallex has tapped tech-scaling expert Pranav Sood as its new Chief Financial Officer. Based in London, Sood will leverage his investment background from Bain Capital’s growth equity fund to lead Airwallex's global financial planning through its next phase of expansion.

Sood previously served at Airwallex during an earlier tenure where he managed the initial build-out of the company’s EMEA operations and oversaw its global marketing function. The leadership shift follows a prior corporate announcement detailing a $1.1 billion investment commitment to the EMEA region. This regional capital allocation follows an $8 billion valuation for the business.

Airwallex Co-Founder and CEO Jack Zhang stated, "Pranav is a rare leader who balances rigorous financial discipline with a builder’s mindset." Zhang noted that Sood's background at Bain Capital and his previous knowledge of the company's commercial operations made him the choice to guide financial strategy. The company is currently expanding its regional engineering presence with plans to hire approximately 100 new senior engineering roles across the UK and The Netherlands.

The incoming executive will oversee a financial operation focused on developing specialized software systems designed to align money, data, and decisions for corporate clients. Sood stated, "Returning to Airwallex feels like coming home to a mission that is more critical than ever." He added that his operational goal is to ensure the finance function provides a robust framework as the platform scales.

Sood's appointment marks a structural transition toward institutional scaling by integrating an external investment perspective into internal financial operations. His familiarity with the EMEA footprint aligns with the company's ongoing technical hiring push and multi-billion dollar capital deployment strategy in European markets.
