Veeam has appointed enterprise software veteran Mika Yamamoto as Chief Marketing and Customer AI Officer, giving her responsibility for both the company’s global marketing organization and the AI framework used to shape customer interactions.

The role combines traditional marketing leadership with oversight of how Veeam uses customer data and AI across sales, support, and other touchpoints. Yamamoto will set the company’s strategy for making those interactions more relevant while helping customers understand how Veeam’s products protect and govern data used in automated and human-led processes.

Yamamoto joins Veeam from Freshworks, where she served as chief integrated customer growth officer and led customer and employee experience across marketing, sales, customer success, and support. Earlier, she was chief customer engagement and marketing officer at F5 and president of Marketo through its acquisition by Adobe. She has also held senior roles at SAP, Microsoft, Gartner, and Accenture.

Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran said Yamamoto’s experience across marketing, sales, support, and customer experience made her well suited to connect brand development with the value customers receive from the company’s products.

“Organizations are putting AI to work across every function in their businesses,” Yamamoto said. “They need complete visibility, control, and security over the data behind their agentic and human-driven processes on a single trusted platform.”

Yamamoto also serves on the board of BlackLine, where she chairs the Compensation Committee. At Veeam, she will help shape how the company presents its data security and resilience platform to more than 550,000 customers worldwide.
