Monzo has appointed Shelley Malton as its new Group Chief Operating Officer, effective early 2026, pending regulatory approvals. Malton brings over 30 years of experience in financial services, having held senior roles at NatWest, Experian, Vodafone, and Barclays. At Barclays, she served as Chief Operations and Technology Officer at Barclaycard Europe, following an 18-year tenure. In her new role at Monzo, Malton will collaborate with CEO TS Anil and the executive team to drive the company's international expansion plans.
Malton's appointment concludes Monzo's search for a successor to Sujata Bhatia, who stepped down earlier this year after serving as COO for five years. This leadership change aligns with Monzo's growth trajectory, as the bank recently surpassed 13 million customers and reported a 48% revenue increase to $1.6 billion in FY2025.
