With a sharp eye on market dynamics and a deep belief in equitable access to credit, Brooke Major Reid is steering Affirm’s capital strategy as Chief Capital Officer toward record-breaking growth. Leading teams across Capital Markets, Treasury, Bank Partnerships, and Quantitative Markets, Major-Reid has guided Affirm’s funding capacity to an all-time high of $11.7 billion. Under her leadership, Affirm has scaled a diverse and resilient funding ecosystem, critical for supporting its flexible “Buy Now, Pay Later” offerings. By integrating automation and analytics through a dedicated Capital Technology team, she has enhanced operational efficiency and decision-making, ensuring Affirm continues to deliver sustainable financial products that meet individual consumer needs.
Major-Reid’s career began with a fascination for finance during her undergraduate years at Howard University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in international business. She received her MBA from Harvard Business School before spending over 15 years at Morgan Stanley in corporate finance and capital markets, building a strong foundation in credit and structured products. Her journey took a pivotal turn in 2015 when she launched BEAMR Group, advising women- and minority-founded startups. She later served as Head of Strategy at Cross River Bank and was appointed Corporate Treasurer at Macy’s, where she navigated financial operations during the pandemic.
Reid describes her leadership style as grounded in empathy, humility, and continuous learning. Raised in Jamaica, she attributes much of her success to early values of hard work, gratitude, and integrity—principles she encourages rising professionals to hold close. She has mentored and championed underrepresented voices throughout her career and continues that work at Affirm, where nearly half the executive team are women and over 75% of board members come from underrepresented groups. For Reid, capital is not just a resource—it’s a tool for inclusion and impact.
