Jay Chaudhry sees passion not as a perk, but as the foundation of meaningful work. At Zscaler, where he serves as CEO and Founder, he sees genuine motivation as the ultimate driver of performance. It’s what fuels his own work and what he looks for when building his teams—assessing candidates not by resume alone but by the questions they ask and the curiosity they show. His approach has helped build Zscaler into a $25 billion cybersecurity leader, redefining enterprise security in a cloud-first world. Best known for revolutionizing how businesses protect themselves in a digital age, Chaudhry continues to lead with the same conviction that work should feel like a hobby—deeply enjoyable and driven by purpose.

Born in the small village of Panoh in Himachal Pradesh, India, Chaudhry’s early life was marked by limited resources but a relentless desire to learn. He later moved to the United States, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from IIT BHU Varanasi before pursuing an MBA in marketing, a master’s degree in computer engineering, and a master’s degree in industrial engineering—all from the University of Cincinnati. At Zscaler, he leads product vision, strategy, and innovation, drawing on more than 25 years of cybersecurity experience. Before Zscaler, Chaudhry founded and successfully exited four companies: SecureIT, CoreHarbor, CipherTrust, and AirDefense—each addressing emerging security needs well ahead of the curve.
