The Wendy's Company, a renowned player in the fast-food industry, has announced a significant leadership change. On January 18, 2024, the Board of Directors revealed that Kirk Tanner would assume the role of President and CEO, succeeding Todd Penegor, who has been a stalwart in senior leadership positions at Wendy's for over a decade. Tanner is set to take the reins on February 5, 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience, having spent more than 30 years in the food and beverage industry.

Prior to his appointment at Wendy's, Tanner held the position of CEO for North American Beverages at PepsiCo, Inc. Notably, his successful tenure oversaw a substantial $26+ billion business unit, constituting around 30% of PepsiCo's overall business. Noteworthy was his focus on driving operational performance, fostering revenue growth, and successfully launching new products, leading the company into new markets.

Tanner’s expertise extends beyond his recent role, having also overseen PepsiCo's Global Foodservice division. During this period, he strategically expanded the company's presence in the foodservice sector through key partnerships, new product lines, and significant deals with major sports leagues and restaurant chains.
