With effect from June 24, 2024, Srini Venkatesan has been named Chief Technology Officer  of PayPal Holdings. Venkatesan will supervise technological development throughout PayPal's ecosystem, reporting to CEO Alex Chriss. His primary areas of concentration will include analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, information security, and product engineering. Venkatesan comes to PayPal from Walmart, where he oversaw worldwide platform development as well as the US Omni Platforms and Tech group. His long tenures at Yahoo, eBay, StubHub, and Marketo, where he held key positions, highlight his proficiency in technology and digital transformation.

Archie Deskus, PayPal's current CTO, will leave in the meantime. During Deskus's leadership, PayPal developed into a platform-centric business, improving its technology base. With Venkatesan's appointment, PayPal is demonstrating its dedication to advancing innovation and improving individualized client experiences in international trade. Under his direction, PayPal should continue to advance its technological prowess and maintain its leading position in e-commerce and digital payments.
