Integra LifeSciences is bringing back a longtime leader to steer its next phase. The medical technology company appointed Stuart M. Essig as permanent President and Chief Executive Officer, while naming Michael McBreen to the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer. Essig, who will remain Chairman of the Board, succeeds Mojdeh Poul as she departs the company to pursue other opportunities. Presiding Director Barbara Hill said the board does not intend to launch a CEO search, calling Essig’s appointment “the right leadership step for the company’s next phase.”

Essig has more than three decades of experience in the medical technology and healthcare industries, including extensive history with the firm. He has served as a director since 1997, took over as chairman of the board in June 2012, and spent the last two years actively engaged in operational and quality matters as executive chairman. This transition marks a return to his previous executive tenure, during which he served as the company's CEO from 1997 through early 2012 and as its President from 1997 until 2010.

Steering the company through its next phase, Essig will focus on quality remediation, compliance, and operational resilience to drive long-term shareholder value. His return is paired with McBreen’s oversight of the entire global commercial structure, a strategic alignment designed to sharpen market-facing priorities and accelerate enterprise execution. Essig emphasized his long-term commitment to the organization, stating, "As I step back into the CEO role, my focus will be on accelerating execution, strengthening our customer and commercial focus, and reinforcing a culture and operating discipline that will drive sustained performance and deliver long-term shareholder value."
