The Cigna Group has announced that President and Chief Operating Officer Brian Evanko will become Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2026, succeeding long-time CEO David M. Cordani. The leadership shift follows nearly 17 years under Cordani, during which the company significantly expanded its scale and service offerings. Lead Independent Director Eric Wiseman said Evanko’s experience across the business makes him well-suited for the role, noting “Brian's purpose-driven, performance-focused leadership, experience across every dimension of our business, and future-focused approach uniquely position him to be the company's next CEO.”

Evanko, who has spent nearly 30 years with the company, currently oversees operations across Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services, focusing on expanding the use of data, technology, and artificial intelligence to improve healthcare delivery. Cordani praised his successor, stating, “Brian is an exceptional leader and the right person to guide The Cigna Group into its next chapter.” Evanko expressed appreciation for the leadership transition, noting his gratitude to David for mentorship and acknowledging the trust placed in him by the company’s Board of Directors. The two executives will work together during the transition period leading up to July 2026.
