In a significant leadership role, Kathryn McLay assumed the position of President and CEO of Walmart International in August 2023, overseeing a $100 billion division of the global retail giant. Managing a team of 500,000 associates, she plays a pivotal role in serving 80 million customers weekly across 18 countries. Walmart International, recognized as the world's leading international omnichannel retailer, is integral to Walmart's long-term growth strategy, embodying the commitment to helping people save money and live better.

Before taking the helm at Walmart International, McLay held the position of President and CEO at Sam's Club, a members-only warehouse club and division of Walmart Inc. Under her leadership, Sam's Club experienced remarkable growth, with revenues surging by 43 percent to $84 billion in fiscal year 2023. During her tenure, millions of new members were added to the clubs, solidifying her track record of success within the Walmart organization.

McLay's journey with Walmart began in 2015 when she joined as Vice President of U.S. Finance & Strategy. Over the years, she held various leadership roles, including driving strategic initiatives called Legacy to transform the Walmart U.S. business. Her contributions extended to redesigning the Walmart U.S. supply chain and overseeing operations of the imports and reverse networks. In 2018, she became the Executive Vice President of Neighborhood Markets for Walmart U.S., overseeing nearly 700 small-format stores across the country. With a career spanning from Deloitte to Qantas Airlines and Australian retailer Woolworths, her diverse experiences and leadership roles have shaped her into a seasoned executive. A native of Australia, she holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from the University of Technology in Sydney.

Beyond her corporate roles, McLay has also made significant contributions to industry organizations. As the past President and Chairwoman of the Institute of Internal Auditors, she brought her expertise to a leadership role, emphasizing the importance of internal audit functions. Additionally, her service as a board member of ECRA, an industry board comprising retailers and suppliers, highlights her commitment to industry collaboration and governance. With her extensive background and achievements, McLay stands as a notable figure driving Walmart International's strategic vision and global impact.
