PayPal Holdings has appointed Enrique Lores as President and Chief Executive Officer, following a review by the company's Board of Directors of its competitive position and execution pace. Lores, who has served on PayPal’s board for nearly five years and as Board Chair since July 2024, will succeed Alex Chriss. During the transition period, Chief Financial and Operating Officer Jamie Miller will act as Interim CEO. The Board also named David W. Dorman as Independent Board Chair. The Board said the leadership changes reflect a decision to accelerate execution and sharpen accountability as competition intensifies across digital payments and commerce.
Lores brings more than 30 years of technology and commercial experience, most recently serving over six years as President and CEO of HP, where he led a multi-year transformation into services, subscriptions, and AI-enabled offerings. Dorman said, “Enrique is widely recognized as a visionary leader who prioritizes customer-centric innovation with demonstrable impact.” Lores said his focus will be on faster execution and consistent delivery, adding that PayPal will strengthen innovation, improve execution, and move faster on new products as the payments sector continues to change. The Board thanked outgoing CEO Alex Chriss for advancing Venmo monetization and expanding the buy-now, pay-later business. Chriss said, “Now is the right time to make a transition to a seasoned leader who can take the company through its next phase of transformation.”
