Airbnb has announced the appointment of Ahmad Al-Dahle as its new Chief Technology Officer. Al-Dahle joins from Meta, where he led Generative AI and oversaw the development of the Llama family of open-source models. Announcing the appointment, Airbnb Co-Founder and CEO Brian Chesky said, “I’m excited to share that Ahmad Al-Dahle is joining as our new Chief Technology Officer.” The company added that Al-Dahle brings strong technical expertise and design-focused thinking at a time when technology plays a growing role in shaping how people connect and travel.

Al-Dahle began his career at Apple while studying engineering at the University of Waterloo and later contributed to major products, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, and autonomous technology projects. In 2020, he joined Meta to lead applied AI within Reality Labs and later founded the company’s Generative AI group. He led the launch of Llama, which gained wide adoption in the open-source community. Speaking about his new role, Chesky said, “That’s why Ahmad’s decision to join Airbnb matters. He shares our belief that technology should serve people—not the other way around—and that its highest purpose is to bring us closer together.”
