Ramp has given Co-Founder Karim Atiyeh a Co-CEO title alongside Eric Glyman, formalizing a leadership arrangement the pair says has existed for more than seven years. The fintech also promoted Applied AI leader Rahul Sengottuvelu to Chief Technology Officer as it expands its use of AI across the business.

Before the title change, Atiyeh oversaw risk, operations, and marketing and shared major company decisions with Glyman. The founders said they have run Ramp together this way for 2,656 days.

“Decisions of company strategy are increasingly decisions of technology and systems design,” Glyman and Atiyeh wrote in announcing the changes. They said improvements in AI models are affecting how Ramp structures teams, develops software, and handles internal work.

Sengottuvelu joined Ramp three years ago when it acquired Cohere, his previous startup. He went on to lead Ramp’s Applied AI division. Earlier in his career, Sengottuvelu built customer service agents using GPT-3 before large language models were widely adopted.

As CTO, Sengottuvelu will oversee Ramp’s efforts to incorporate AI into its products and company operations. Those plans include automating more work for finance teams and helping customers track how much they spend using AI models.
