European digital bank N26 has named Mike Dargan, a senior executive at UBS Group AG, as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective from April 2026. Dargan will assume leadership of both N26 Bank SE and N26 SE, succeeding Co-Founder Maximilian Tayenthal and Marcus W. Mosen. He brings more than 25 years of experience across banking, technology, and large-scale transformation. At UBS, he served as Group Chief Operations and Technology Officer, overseeing major digitization programs. His earlier roles include senior leadership positions at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, Merrill Lynch across Asia and Europe, and consultancy firm Oliver Wyman.
Dargan said the appointment marks a significant transition, stating, “I am deeply passionate about ensuring trust and strong customer outcomes for a digital-only bank. This marks the beginning of something new for me – a new opportunity, a new bank, and a refreshed business model.”
Tayenthal expressed confidence in the transition, saying he is stepping back knowing that Mike brings extensive experience across banking, technology, and digital transformation, along with a strong commitment to N26’s vision, positioning Dargan to lead the company through its next phase. Dr. Andreas Dombret, Chair of the N26 Supervisory Board, welcomed Mike Dargan as the new CEO, highlighting his industry expertise, leadership experience, and clear direction as N26 builds on its legacy.
