Vertex has appointed Christopher Young as its new President and CEO, adding him to the Board as part of the transition. His appointment follows an external search run with an independent firm and marks the succession of David DeStefano, who retired after 26 years. Young joins the company with a long track record in major technology organizations, including leadership roles at Microsoft, McAfee, Cisco, Intel, and VMware.
Reflecting on the transition, DeStefano stated, “Christopher is a proven leader with a strong track record of scaling businesses, and I am confident he is the best person to build on the momentum underway at Vertex.” Lead Independent Director Ric Andersen thanked DeStefano for his service and said the Board is confident that Young will guide the company through its next stage of expansion.
Young said, “It is an honor to be selected to serve as Vertex’s next CEO, and I could not be more excited to take on this new role,” and highlighted the company’s strengths in product capability, industry knowledge, and a broad customer base. He noted that the “rapid rise of generative AI” presents new opportunities to improve how tax and compliance functions are managed.
