As Atlassian’s Chief of Staff, Amy Glancey believes in empowering smart people with big challenges, providing them with the space and support they need to excel. Her approach rejects micromanagement, instead fostering an environment where individuals take ownership of their work. Beyond her strategic role, she is deeply committed to championing women in the tech industry, recognizing that true progress comes not only from grand gestures like promotions but also from subtle yet meaningful actions—amplifying voices in meetings, boosting confidence, and ensuring opportunities are equitably distributed.
Originally from Australia, Glancey earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Wollongong, graduating with distinction in both. Her career began in communications, leading her to high-impact roles across the U.S., UK, and APAC regions. Before joining Atlassian in 2016 as Director of Communications for APAC, she led communications efforts for Groupon across 14 markets in APAC. In 2018, she transitioned to Chief of Staff in the Office of the CEO, where she plays a crucial role in Atlassian’s strategic decision-making, internal communications, and global initiatives.
Glancey’s influence extends beyond corporate strategy—she is a firm advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in tech. She believes that upholding a fair and inclusive workplace requires continuous education on bias and proactive steps to mitigate its effects. A career in technology, she emphasizes, is not limited to engineering but spans fields like marketing, finance, and product management, offering diverse opportunities for growth. Whether guiding Atlassian’s leadership or mentoring the next generation, Glancey’s impact is defined by her commitment to uplifting others and ensuring the tech industry remains accessible and equitable for all.
