Breakthroughs happen when risks are taken, and Sabrina Farmer has built her career on embracing the long shot. As Chief Technology Officer at GitLab, she leads the company’s software engineering, operations, and customer support teams, ensuring the seamless execution of its technical vision. She thrives in fast-moving environments, knowing that decisive action and rapid adaptation drive true innovation. Having spent nearly two decades at Google, where she oversaw the reliability and efficiency of billion-user products, Farmer understands the importance of scaling systems while maintaining operational excellence. Currently, she is focused on improving productivity and efficiency while helping companies integrate AI responsibly into their software development processes.

Born and raised in the United States, Farmer’s journey into technology was not always certain. Growing up as one of four sisters raised by a single mother, she initially saw college as out of reach. However, she pursued her passion for problem-solving and earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of New Orleans. Her career includes pivotal roles at NetSuite and WebMD before she joined Google, where she eventually became Vice President of Engineering for Core Infrastructure. Now at GitLab, she drives the company’s engineering strategy, ensuring its platform enhances how organizations build, secure, and deliver software. Beyond her technical contributions, she actively supports women in technology, establishing scholarships at her alma mater to foster greater inclusivity in the field.
