Thanks to people like Bo Young Lee we now know that diversity and inclusion (D&I) can be a company’s most valuable asset. Furthermore, in the ever-changing workplace, leaders with expertise in D&I are now more important than ever.

Lee has spent her entire career devoted to advancing D&I as a consultant and thought leader across some of the most recognizable companies in the world. This explains why, in 2018, she was hired by Uber to serve as its first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO). The appointment of Lee, who was the global diversity and inclusion officer at risk advisory and insurance brokerage company Marsh, was an attempt by company leaders to correct the troubled culture of the ride-hailing company.

To date, Lee's efforts to lead Uber's diversity and inclusion efforts seem to be paying off. Reporting to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, she has been able to build a work culture where radically diverse and inclusive teams drive innovation, accelerate growth, and increase connection to customers and driver-partners.

In addition to her role at Uber, Lee provides pro-bono guidance as D&I advisor to the League of American Orchestras, NYC Arts in Education, and as a lecturer at the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility.

Throughout her career, Lee has enabled dozens of clients to achieve their D&I goals. Past clients include Beckman Coulter, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, McKesson, John Deere, Pfizer, the Hospital Corporation of America, and Marriott International, as well as numerous other Fortune 500 companies. She also launched and led Aon/Hewitt Associates’ Global Emerging Workforce Solutions consulting practice and held diversity leadership roles at Ernst & Young and National Grid.

In addition, Lee served as a Director of Advisory Services at Catalyst, the leading nonprofit focused on the advancement of women in business, and she is a sought-after speaker and commentator, having been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, MSNBC, Business Insurance, and in other major media outlets and at many conferences.

Lee graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. She also holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
