Sovos has appointed David McCann as Chief Technology Officer, signaling a deeper push toward autonomous, AI-driven tax reporting. McCann arrives with an extensive background in the fintech and SaaS sectors, most recently serving as CTO at Self Financial. During his tenure there, he led a platform modernization that overhauled the company’s fintech infrastructure and improved delivery speed and system resilience.
His track record also includes senior roles at Abrigo and Accruent, along with work for private equity and venture-backed companies that influenced more than $5 billion in business outcomes. At Sovos, McCann will lead the global technology organization with a focus on scaling Sovi AI and the Sovos Tax Compliance Cloud. The role centers on turning a fragmented compliance environment into a more unified, intelligent platform for multinational clients.
The move comes as global tax authorities increasingly demand digital-first, real-time reporting. Sovos President Gregg Spratto noted that McCann’s cloud-native expertise is essential for differentiating the firm’s platform in an increasingly competitive market. For McCann, the priority is to turn complex global data requirements into a streamlined competitive advantage, utilizing AI to bridge the gap between legacy compliance and real-time enterprise demands.
