
Thunes has appointed Guy Duncan as its new Chief Technology and Product Officer, marking a significant step in advancing its technology and product capabilities. The move reflects the company’s focus on expanding its Direct Global Network and improving its cross-border payment infrastructure. Duncan joins with extensive experience in digital transformation and scaling high-growth platforms, having previously held leadership roles at Tide and OVO Energy.
His career includes leading large-scale digital initiatives, including BMW’s transformation across multiple international markets and growing Tide’s user base from 50,000 to more than 1,000,000 members. At Thunes, he will oversee technology and product functions, with a focus on building agile teams and integrating artificial intelligence to address inefficiencies in global money transfers.
Commenting on the appointment, CEO Peter De Caluwe said, “Guy’s expertise in AI and high-scale engineering will be pivotal in honing our competitive edge.” Duncan also emphasized the company’s growth phase, stating, “Thunes is at a fascinating juncture where technology and innovation acts as the ultimate strategic enabler.” He added that his priority will be to develop scalable systems and deploy practical AI solutions that address customer needs both now and in the future.
