Cristiano Amon understands that success in technology means constant reinvention. As CEO of Qualcomm since 2021, he has embraced this reality, steering the company beyond its legacy in mobile to seize new opportunities in AI, automotive, and computing. Recognizing that mobile is now a replacement market rather than a growth driver, he has championed a diversification strategy that applies Qualcomm’s core innovations—such as Snapdragon processors and wireless technologies—to industries that are rapidly evolving. Under his leadership, the company is forging ahead in areas like connected cars, industrial applications, and spatial computing, ensuring Qualcomm remains at the forefront of technological change.
Born and raised in Brazil, Amon developed a passion for engineering early, inspired by his father, who was also an electrical engineer. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas and began his career at NEC before joining Qualcomm in 1995 as an engineer. Over the years, he played a pivotal role in the company’s transformation, leading advancements in CDMA, 4G, and 5G. Before becoming CEO, he served as Qualcomm’s president, overseeing product strategy, expanding the business into emerging industries, and driving key acquisitions to enhance the company’s capabilities.
Amon’s success stems from his ability to anticipate industry shifts and act decisively. His approach is rooted in Qualcomm’s collaborative culture, where innovation thrives across disciplines. Having witnessed firsthand every stage of wireless evolution—from analog to 5G and now the early developments of 6G—he sees technology as a platform that can reshape entire industries. By leveraging Qualcomm’s deep expertise in mobile to fuel advancements in AI, automotive, and IoT, he is positioning the company for sustained growth in an increasingly connected world.
