As Yahoo’s Head of Global Diversity and Inclusion, Alicin Reidy Williamson draws from over two decades of experience to navigate the complexities of fostering equity and accountability within organizations. Reflecting on lessons from navigating a storm aboard a 16-foot sailboat, Williamson draws a compelling parallel to leadership: success demands both preparation and adaptability in the face of unforeseen challenges. This philosophy is central to her work in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), where fostering trust, accountability, and innovation across organizations requires navigating complex currents of change with grace and conviction.
Williamson’s career has spanned diverse sectors, from entertainment and fashion to politics and nonprofit work. Before joining Yahoo, she served as Chief Inclusion Officer at Endeavor, where she oversaw all DEI initiatives for the organization. Her prior roles include managing principal at The Raben Group, where she spearheaded DEI strategies and stakeholder engagement, and Senior Vice President at MTV Networks and Viacom, where she founded the Corporate Responsibility and Public Affairs department. Williamson's educational foundation in public affairs and social impact is reflected in her roles as a program director for The Fund for the City of New York and her board positions with organizations like the New York Urban League and Food Research and Action Center.
Williamson’s approach is not solely about implementing policies but creating environments where diverse voices feel empowered and valued. Recognized for her efforts, she has been inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women Leaders, an honor reflecting her commitment to inclusivity. Her belief that true leadership is about embracing challenges and transforming them into opportunities for growth—whether on a stormy sea or in a boardroom—defines her as a leader unafraid to embrace transformation.
