Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) recently announced the appointment of Kristin Major as its new executive vice president and chief people officer (CPO), effective February 1, 2024. Reporting directly to president and CEO Antonio Neri, Major is set to bring her extensive experience and deep understanding of the organization to this critical role.

Major, who has been with HPE since 2011, has held various leadership positions within the company. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of human resources (HR) and chief talent officer. Over her 12-year tenure, she has demonstrated her leadership capabilities by overseeing HR for critical divisions such as HPE GreenLake, HPE Aruba Networking, the HPE Transformation Office, and HPE’s chief technology officer.

Before transitioning to HR, Major served as the chief employment counsel for HPE for eight years, contributing significantly to the Operations, Legal, and Administrative Affairs organization. Her diverse experience within the company positions her as a valuable asset for her new role as CPO. 

Neri expressed confidence in Major's appointment, emphasizing Having worked in several different parts of the business over the last 12 years, Kristin has strong relationships and a deep understanding of the needs and opportunities across the enterprise.” He highlighted Major's positive impact stating, Our team members love her, and she shares my passion for culture and creating an environment where our team members can thrive.”

Major's legal background includes a significant tenure as a labor and employment counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Palo Alto, California. She holds a law degree from Georgetown University and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona.

She succeeds Alan May, who held the CPO role at HPE since joining the company in 2015.
