Born in 1963 and raised in New York, Robert A. Kotick, widely known as Bobby Kotick, demonstrated an early passion for business. Even during his formative years, he displayed entrepreneurial spirit by renting Manhattan clubs on off nights and carrying business cards in junior high. His fascination with business led him to the University of Michigan in the early 1980s, where he also explored his interest in art history.

In 2012, Kotick took on a role as a non-executive director at Coca-Cola and held it until 2022. He has also been actively involved in various philanthropic endeavors. As a trustee at Harvard Westlake School and the chairman of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's trustee committee, he's demonstrated his commitment to education and the arts.

Despite personal challenges, including a separation from his wife in late 2012, Kotick's determination and dedication to his family have remained unwavering. He is the proud father of three daughters: Grace, Emily, and Audrey.

Kotick's career began to take shape when he co-founded Arktronics in 1983 with his friend Howard Marks during their time at the University of Michigan. This venture laid the foundation for his future in the tech industry. In 1990, Kotick and Brian Kelly took a bold step by purchasing 25% of the struggling company, Activision (then known as Mediagenic). This marked the beginning of his transformative journey within the gaming industry.

Under Kotick's leadership, Activision underwent a remarkable revitalization, evolving from near-bankruptcy to a powerhouse in video game development and publishing. His vision was clear: to create a well-managed company with a strong focus on independent developers.
In 2008, Kotick orchestrated a historic merger, uniting Activision with Vivendi Games to form Activision Blizzard. This merger gave birth to the world's largest and most profitable interactive entertainment software publisher, dominating every major category in the industry.
