His Stanford PhD thesis, titled "Incorporating Uncertainty in Data Management and Integration," showcased his intellectual prowess and demonstrated his ability to tackle complex challenges in the field. During this time, Agrawal also honed his skills through internships at Microsoft Research and Yahoo! Research, gaining valuable industry experience.

In 2011, Agrawal's journey led him to Twitter, where he joined as a software developer. His initial focus was scaling Twitter advertisements, but his capabilities soon caught the attention of the company's leadership. Within six years, Agrawal rose through the ranks to become the head of the tech team.

A pivotal moment in his career came when he was entrusted with leading Project Bluesky, an ambitious initiative aimed at decentralizing social media using blockchain technology. This endeavor showcased Agrawal's forward-thinking approach and his dedication to driving technological change at Twitter. His vision and leadership in this area have made him a tech executive to watch, as his efforts have the potential to reshape the social media landscape.

However, Agrawal’s  journey to the top did not come without challenges. In November 2021, he assumed the role of CEO of Twitter after the resignation of Jack Dorsey. Agrawal's tenure as CEO was marked by significant milestones, including financial rewards and the implementation of measures to combat Twitter abuse. However, in a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk acquired the company in October 2022 and removed Agrawal from his position.

Beyond his professional achievements, he is also a family man. He is married to Vineeta Agarwala, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, and they have two children. Agrawal's commitment to work-life balance was evident when he took paternity leave for the birth of his second child, setting an example for other professionals.

His views on freedom of speech have been a subject of discussion. Agrawal emphasized Twitter's role in fostering a healthy public conversation rather than solely adhering to the legal boundaries of the First Amendment. His nuanced approach to balancing free speech with changing times reflects his deep understanding of the complexities associated with moderating content on a global social media platform.

As his career progresses, it will be fascinating to see how Agrawal continues to shape the future of social media and harness the power of technology to create positive change.
