Born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, Cunningham grew up witnessing the disparities in healthcare that continue to shape his leadership today. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern University before embarking on a career that would place him at the forefront of healthcare technology and life sciences. Prior to joining Illumina in 2024, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Exact Sciences, overseeing marketing, sales, and customer service. His leadership experience extends across Quest Diagnostics, GE Healthcare, and Pfizer, where he spent 21 years in various senior roles. At Illumina, Cunningham’s work centers on scaling commercial operations and expanding the company’s reach in global markets, reinforcing its commitment to early disease detection and personalized medicine.
