Petco Health and Wellness Company, Inc. announced the appointment of Holly May as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) on February 13, 2024. Effective February 4, 2024, May assumes a crucial role in driving Petco's HR strategy, emphasizing profitable growth, outstanding performance, and a commitment to improving the lives of pets, pet parents, and Petco partners.

Petco CEO Ron Coughlin highlighted the significance of their dedicated partners. He added "Holly brings an impressive track record of driving comprehensive HR strategies that align with business objectives and deliver transformational growth. On behalf of the entire Petco leadership team, we look forward to working alongside her to continue supporting our 29,000 purpose-driven partners."  May, a seasoned HR professional with two decades of experience, is known for building innovative programs, policies, and practices that foster fair and progressive HR policies, mental health awareness, and inclusive workplaces.

Before joining Petco, May served as EVP & Global Chief Human Resources Officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance, where she led global HR and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) functions, supporting a vast employee base. Her responsibilities included organizational design, talent management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and other key HR areas. May's career also includes executive leadership roles at Starbucks, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Visa.

Expressing enthusiasm for her new role, May acknowledged, "Over the past week, I've had the pleasure of meeting many Petco partners, and I've directly observed their passion for taking care of pets and pet parents, I look forward to helping this high-impact team further harness that passion to fuel both personal and business growth across the organization."

May, based at Petco's National Support Center in San Diego, graduated from Wellesley College and earned her master's degree in finance from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

May's appointment underscores Petco's commitment to employee well-being and aligning HR strategies with their mission, reinforcing their position as a category-defining health and wellness company in the pet care industry.
