NatWest Group announced that its Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Zachery Anderson, will leave the bank next month after more than five and a half years in the role. Anderson, who also leads open banking, personalisation, and AI, played a central role in shaping NatWest’s data and AI strategy. A bank spokesperson said, “Zachery is leaving NatWest Group to pursue an opportunity outside the bank. We are grateful for the contribution he has made during his time here and the team will continue to deliver on our data and AI strategy as we advance our technology capabilities to meet the needs of our customers.” Anderson’s leadership coincided with significant steps in NatWest’s digital transformation, including partnerships with Amazon Web Services and Accenture to modernise data and AI systems, and a collaboration with OpenAI earlier this year.
Following his departure, Karen Dewar, Head of Data Transformation, will assume the role of interim chief data and analytics officer. Dewar, who has been with the group for over 17 years, previously filled in for Anderson during his parental leave and will continue guiding the bank’s AI and data agenda with support from Dr. Maja Pantic, the group’s first Chief AI Research Officer. NatWest highlighted its commitment to advancing AI adoption and digital modernisation as part of its long-term technology strategy.
